Orthopedic Doctors in Atlanta Georgia who Deal with Car Accidents

by

I spent several hours talking with a family last week about their difficult decision on whether to remove screws and pins from their daughters leg. The topic what distinguishes a good orthopedist or orthopedic surgeons in Atlanta came up.

With 14 years of injury law behind us, we have deposed or spoken with well over half of the orthopedists in the metro Atlanta area. Clients frequently ask us “will this doctor listen to me?” “Do they care what has happened to me?” The answer is, “It depends on the Doctor.”

Each Doctor has a distinctive personality. Some are friendly and detailed in their explanations and some are a stone wall. I have had countless calls from clients complaining that they left their doctor’s appointment with no idea what their diagnosis or prognosis was.

How do you avoid this? Prepare!

1) Make a list of questions you want to ask the Doctor before you go in.

2) If you get an answer in medical terms you don’t understand, ask for clarification. For example: “I did not understand what you meant when you said….”

“Could you explain how it is that my___is causing me to feel…”

3) Do not bring up questions about claims or lawyers. This only annoys Doctors and makes them doubt your veracity.

4) Ask for two treatment options, the conservative one and the aggressive one, so you at least have choices.

If you remember nothing else, just remember to communicate clearly!
